This Just Melted My Brain
For whatever reason, I was reading David Sprague’s official write-up for the Offspring’s album Smash on amazon.ca. And all was agreeable until I hit the following line:
“If Green Day are the ’90s punk equivalent of the Beatles, and Rancid its Rolling Stones, the Offspring might be its Monkees–remembered for nothing more important than simple, indelible pop.”
Sit with that one for a minute.
I know what he means… and maybe I think too much… OK, I definitely think too much, but… holy.
I’ve been trying to wrap my head around comparing Green Day to the Beatles for the better part of an hour. Never mind Rancid and the Stones.
That one line hit me sideways, big-time.
I need to get out more. 😉
