Hard Core Logo 2

No no no no no no, and no. NO!! I don’t even want to see this. There is nowhere he can go from the perfectly incredible ending of the original film. Nowhere, that is, except straight into ruining its legacy. Even if it’s a different story arc, it still cheapens the power and beauty of the first (and should be only) film.

Wiki says this film was released in 2010. But what started me on this rant was Amazon newly releasing some Die Mannequin album that contains songs made for the film (which could be being released now just to pad out their meager 9 songs). It also says the DVD is out in May of this year, 2012. So even if it was 2010, and I’m just hearing about it now, isn’t that proof enough that no one cares? That the first film was a stand-alone of great power and integrity (which it was), and well enough should have been left alone?

I feel predisposed to hate this film on principle. Why, Bruce, WHY? You’re such a good filmmaker. And you have to stoop to this? You had no other, original ideas? I highly doubt that. I don’t know who talked you into this travesty, or how much money they promised you, but you should have had sense enough to leave it the hell alone.

No. Just fucking NO.

  1. The book was better than the movie.

    • Hi! Well, the book is almost always better than the movie (except for Jaws, that book was TERRIBLY done). But I love Hard Core Logo. I can’t bring myself to imagine a sequel. Or a new direction. It is what it is and it is perfect. He should have left it alone. I doubt I’ll ever see it, read it, or have the CD. I just can’t imagine how it would work. There’s no need for a Part Two.

  2. You should see the film. It’s totally unique and another brilliant piece from Bruce. Feels like an anti-sequel and pokes fun at Bruce himself and the idea of “sequels”. I think that was the point.
