Weekend Catch-Up

Welcome to the flood.

Since January of this year, it has been my mission to provide content to this site every day. One review, rant, whatever. And I think I’ve pretty much managed it, over the past four months.  However, I’ve missed the past few days, and I have good reason.

Our son, who turns 5 years old today, spent half of this long holiday weekend in the hospital, hooked up to an IV and on antibiotics. His lymph node was very swollen, to the point where he could not move his neck. The doctors said it was a virus, which is doctor-speak for “we haven’t a fucking clue as to a cause, here.” He’s home now, and slowly on the mend. It was very difficult to see my little guy lying in that bed, tubes coming out of him. But he’s a trooper. I’m sure he’ll be fine, eventually.

Yesterday, of course, was Easter. The day got eaten up.

So, there follows posts to make up for all of the lost time. Thanks for your patience.

Get in there and give ‘er!

  1. Stay strong Isaac and family! You’ll need your neck later in life when you learn to head-bang!

    • Thanks Mike! Yeah, I’ve been sneaking the good stuff onto the stereo when they’re around. They’ll grow up knowing it, and (hopefully) loving it! Of course, the purest form of rebellion they could do to piss me off would be to choose to love Nickelback, or Celine Dion, or… elevator music, or something.

  2. Having sick kids is no fun.
My daughter was 12 and spent 37 days in hospital plus 4 or 5 trips to Sick Kids In TO after the fact as well.
(She’s 16 now going on 30,she’s healthy now and thinks her dad(me) is a dork! And man I will take that….
It’s totally true, tuff to,see your own hooked up and not wondering or knowing what’s going on…..
Stay strong for the fam bro……
    It will all work out!

    • Thanks Deke! Yeah man, you bring ’em into this world and wanna protect them and then something beyond your control knocks ’em down for a while and you’re ready to help any way you can but you can’t and you stand around as useful as tits on a bull. And you’d trade places with them in a heartbeat, if it meant they didn’t have to hurt anymore. I’m glad your girl’s OK, man that’s some scary shit. I feel bad for worrying now! 😉
