Rush… And Archer

My lovely wife and I have been watching Archer. It’s friggin’ super-hilarious. So many great moments.

As if it needed to endear itself to me even more, there are several Rush references throughout the show. The ageny’s mad scientist, Krieger, is a big fan.

And someone out there took the time to splice a few of the Rush moments together for your viewing pleasure.

* This video contains Exit… Van Left, but it does not contain its successor, Vanispheres. Clearly, this video needs to be updated. 🙂

I’ve seen a few Archer episodes but never any Rush references…until now. So thanks for posting this. I should watch the show more often since the guy who voices Archer is also the main voice of Bob’s Burgers, one of my favorite current shows.

Have you ever seen this TV commercial for VW that features “Fly By Night”?

Archer is best watched from the start, as a lot of the interactions later come from some earlier event. You could watch them here and there, but it probably doesn’t make as much sense. Well, there’s always the jokes. But story arc-wise…

That’s a cool commercial. I could have sworn they’d filmed me in my car. But the ending sort of clunks. I mean, what, it’s bad to be seen enjoying Rush in your car? I THINK NOT!

I really like the show. I like the absurd. The hook is the alien, Roger. He dresses up in a disguise and suddenly nobody can tell he’s an alien, even though he’s just an alien wearing a wig. I love the absurdity of it.

But even musically…that Rush episode was awesome. Not only was it a cool storyline (two best friends) but the music was great. The end scene is done to a Joe Satriani song. The whole song, I think.

To end a cartoon episode with an instrumental ballad air guitar is a bit unusual, but it had real sentiment to it. A very well done episode overall.

It’s a (very) crazy spy cartoon. I can’t even begin to describe all the connections in the tight writing, but suffice it to say all the characters are completely hilarious idiots. We watch these a couple at a time and just howl with laughter.

I realize now, watching that collection of clips back, that pull quotes from the show don’t always work. Context is needed, the episodes flow really well.
