I would like to commend you all. For two reasons.
1) You are still alive even after I was gone for so long! And here you were afraid your world would come to a crashing end. It was a reasonable fear. Well done!
2) Here I am, back after seven days away, and my experiment is complete. I commend you for participating in my experiment even though you didn’t know you were participating!
Of fear not, it was nothing too nefarious…
You see, in the interests of science, I was curious to see how many blog-related emails I had when I returned.
So, between New Post notices from all of your blogs, comments on said blogs, and comments on my own blog posts (which I had programmed to post daily prior to my departure), I have 430 emails in my various inboxes related to blogging.
That is an impressive number. I am not daunted by it. Chances are, I will read your posts and then comment appropriately. But I will definitely read all of your comments on my blog and reply to each one!
It has been interesting, and instructive, to me to see just how many emails and posts happen within a week, around here. On a day-to-day basis, we don’t really pay that much attention to how much we read and reply. We just do it. But to come back to 430 emails (which is an average of 61.4 unique new emails, without any prompting from my replying to anything, per day), is quite eye-opening.
I have enjoyed my time away (and mostly unplugged, though I did get and send some texts), as a later post will attest. But now it’s a game of catch-up.
Get ready. I’m gonna give ‘er!
