I’m Baaaaaack!

I would like to commend you all. For two reasons.

1) You are still alive even after I was gone for so long! And here you were afraid your world would come to a crashing end. It was a reasonable fear. Well done!

2) Here I am, back after seven days away, and my experiment is complete. I commend you for participating in my experiment even though you didn’t know you were participating!

Of fear not, it was nothing too nefarious…

You see, in the interests of science, I was curious to see how many blog-related emails I had when I returned.

So, between New Post notices from all of your blogs, comments on said blogs, and comments on my own blog posts (which I had programmed to post daily prior to my departure), I have 430 emails in my various inboxes related to blogging.

That is an impressive number. I am not daunted by it. Chances are, I will read your posts and then comment appropriately. But I will definitely read all of your comments on my blog and reply to each one!

It has been interesting, and instructive, to me to see just how many emails and posts happen within a week, around here. On a day-to-day basis, we don’t really pay that much attention to how much we read and reply. We just do it. But to come back to 430 emails (which is an average of 61.4 unique new emails, without any prompting from my replying to anything, per day), is quite eye-opening.

I have enjoyed my time away (and mostly unplugged, though I did get and send some texts), as a later post will attest. But now it’s a game of catch-up.

Get ready. I’m gonna give ‘er!

  1. 430? Jesus Murphy that’s a lot of emails!

    • I know! But I’ll bet if you tracked how many blog-related New Post and Comment and Reply emails you got in a week, it’d be that many or more!

It was easy for me to track – I wasn’t here. They just built up on their own.

    • Also, does Jesus Murphy still work here? I haven’t seen that guy in ages. He’s fun at parties though, the Spanish/Irish mix is a good one! And wow, can he drink! Mostly red wine, as you can imagine. But you know he’s had enough when he keeps saying “this is my blood! I’m drinking my blood!”
