We have (recently) been nominated by Becky at Soundhippy for a One Lovely Blog Award. It is an honour for us to even be thought of and nominated for such a thing, so thank you very much, Becky!!
According to the rules of this nomination, there are several things that must be done (copied from Becky’s blog, rather than re-type it all):
Here are the rules for the One Lovely Blog award:
1. You must thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
2. You must list the rules and display the award.
3. You must add seven facts about yourself.
4. You must nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on one of their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5. You must display the award logo and follow the blogger who nominated you.
So, here we go:
1. Well, we’ve already thanked Becky up there at the top, but we’ll do it again! Thanks Becky!
2. The rules are listed (above), but display the award? I wonder if they just mean this .jpg…
3. I can’t speak for James on seven facts about him, but for myself, here are some things:
I have attended the Indianapolis 500 twice.
My favourite dessert is ALL the desserts.
I have always done all the cooking, in our house.
I played hockey until the age of 14, then took up basketball.
I have lived in 3 of Canada’s provinces, but travelled throughout 5.
I played trumpet in 2 bands for all my high school years.
I have known my lovely wife for 35 years.
4. I will nominate 15 GREAT blogs I read, in no particular order. To all of you, there’s certainly no pressure to participate, or Follow or pass this along. Do as you like! If I have forgotten anyone I apologize it was unintentional!! If James wants to add more, he should do so! According to the rules, I will also be sending a comment to each of the following:
mikeladano.com
HeavyMetalOverload
Superdekes
KamerTunesBlog
1537
Caught Me Gaming
Resurrection Songs
Every Record Tells A Story
1001 Albums
The Second Disc
80s Metal Man
CD & Festival Reviews
A Metal State Of Mind
Earl Of Swirl (where’d ya go, Earl?)
Becky Soundhippy (nominating the nominator!)
5. We’ve Followed our nominator’s blog, and assume the awards logo is that same .jpg, so here it is again!
Thanks everyone. Your blogs make our day. Now get back out there and GIVE ‘ER!
Thanks for the shout out! Much appreciated. I have a vinyl related blogging challenge for you if you are interested? I’ll give the awards thing some thought also – bound to be a spare 20 mins at some point.
Cheers
Steve

Keep up the great work, Geoff! Have you ever thought about what you’ll do when you reach the end of the 1001?

Wonderful question – I’ve been saving all my reviews as Word docs with the vision of one day printing them out as an indexed hard copy at the end.
It feels like some sort of celebration will be called for as well!

That is a fine plan.

Man I was thinking more about it, I like that a lot. Then I tried to imagine the KMA in book form. 1117 posts. That’s a thick sheaf of pages.

Perhaps it could be like an encyopedia collection – divide the KMA posts into volumes!

Thanks for the nod and the link but I’ll have to pass for time reasons too! I’m not exactly the most prolific blogger as it is!

No problem! Just happy to share the links and give shout-outs.
As for content, you’re like James. You guys go for quality, I go for quantity!

It’s truly an honor to be nominated by you wonderful fellas. I won’t be able to participate due to time limitations. I barely have the time to write one measly blog post a week, and then there’s work, homeowner responsibilities, trying to be a good husband, etc. I will definitely be checking out any of the other nominees that I’m not already familiar with.
Best wishes to both of you.

No problem Rich, I understand the time limitations. All that other stuff definitely comes first. As I said to others, I don’t know if there’s an actual award – I think it’s just a pat-on-the-back for doing a good job. So anybody who participates once nominated is just listing other blogs they like, and so on. We here at the KMA just like to make sure our Readers and blogging friends get the acknowledgement and recognition they deserve, so of course I was gonna throw up this post and let all of you guys know we were sending it on. As near as I can tell, just sending you the shout-out is enough! 🙂

We have a great blogging community here, filled with tons of music freaks…er, obsessives…er, lovers…who just love having conversations with others like us. These “awards” are a nice way to shine a light on our favorites, but our regular visits, “likes,” comments, etc. are what make this process so much fun. Hopefully you’ve helped to generate lots of click-throughs which will expand our blogging universe.
Best…
Rich

I’d say ‘obsessives!’ But in the nicest possible way, of course. Agreed, this whole thing is awesome. I should comment more on other blogs, but I hope you all know I’m reading!
I’m all for generating click-throughs to send more people to all of the blogs I listed above. Give ‘er!

And, BTW, to echo your sentiments…where the heck is Earl of Swirl??

That last post where he was working as a mover and found the jackpot of vinyl in the lady’s basement still sticks with me…and might be his last post (early July?). Hope he is back soon. He’s an interesting dude.

Absolutely. Maybe he’s holed up with all that vinyl, writing reviews like mad and then one day BOOM a flood of Swirl. Or maybe he found his F.U. money in that vinyl pile and he’s now living it up on an island somewhere in the sun.

I wish this for him, for sure!

You bet. And for all of us, too. It’d be nice to live on an island for a while…

Congrats to you, and thank you, Aaron, for the nomination. But, respectfully, I won’t be participating at this time. My reasons are mostly practical.
Anyway, you guys should all know that I love your blogs, look forward to reading them and that it makes me immensely happy that you have all allowed this video game blogger [ahem – ME!] into the music bloggers fold. I don’t feel I need to nominate anyone for anything. I’ll just say it here! 😀 😀 😀

Oh, yeah…and GIVE ‘ER! LOL

Hey thanks Sarca, and no worries. I accept mostly practical reasons. 😉 As I said to Mike, near as I can tell it’s just a pat-on-the-back situation, a heads up to other readers that these are some great blogs to go check out. It’s like a mutual admiration society thing, but we all do that already anyway. Totally agreed, the blogs we’ve got in our daily rotation are all awesome, and there’s plenty more besides.

Yep, it is a pat on the back. No one actually wins an award.
I had a flood of these when I first started blogging. They take a lot of work to put together. I’m a busy person who “tries” to manage two posts a week, so I would just rather say, “thanks, love you guys!” and “FIN”. lol

My suspicions were correct! It’s still cool to be able to cheer on our fave blogs. As for the work of it – honestly, however long it took to type in the text and then add links was all it took. Maybe twenty minutes?
LikeLike
Yeah, it takes me longer than 20 minutes to put together a blogpost of any capacity. Kudos to you for being able to whip one off like you can.
LikeLike
Sorry, that’s supposed to be “whip one up” not off…(the latter sounds a little dirty…).

Haha I thought the same thing but you beat me to it.
Wait a minute, that phrasing isn’t optimal either… Hahahaaa 😉

Now that I’m trying for a bit more brevity, if anything takes me more than twenty minutes to do, there’s something really amiss. Blogging these days takes way less time than that.
The difference here, of course, is evident in the quality of your posts versus my more spastic crap! (and that’s not fishing for contradictory compliments, I say the same about James’ posts in here). 🙂

Meant that James’ posts are quality versus my quantity, I’m always saying that.

Don’t change, Aaron! I enjoy your spastic crap! Haha! And btw, sometimes you need to write more to set the scene or tell the story.

I couldn’t change too much now if I tried. Old dogs, you know…
Setting the scene, eh? Hm. Like, just more description of the sound? Or where I bought the album? Or something else?

I was talking more like when you were recounting your experience at music festivals and the like. You know, the burning garbage?

Ah, I see! Well, I could certainly try to do up some more concert memory posts, I have seen a lot of shows. I don’t know how much I could add to an album review though, since I’m usually just sitting in the car waiting for my son to get out of school… and I’m guessing the school would frown on my starting fires in the parking lot…
