Google Translate: Canadian 80s Edition

Sorry guys, I’m really hooked on doing this. It cracks me right the hell up!

Today, Canadian bands in the 80s…

Bryan Adams’ Run To You, from English-Thai-English…

Actual Lyrics:

She says her love for me could never die
But that’d change if she ever found out about you and I
Oh, but her love is cold
Wouldn’t hurt her if she didn’t know, ’cause
When it gets too much
I need to feel your touch

I’m gonna run to you
I’m gonna run to you
‘Cause when the feeling’s right I’m gonna run all night
I’m gonna run to you

Resulting Lyrics:

She said she loved me will never die.
But that would change if she ever found out about you and me.
Oh, but her love Cold weather
Will not hurt her if she did not know why.
When it gets too
I want to You can feel the touch of

I will work with you
I will work with you
Because when my feelings are referred to throughout the night
I will work with you

Platinum Blonde’s Somebody Somewhere, from English-Nepali-English…

Actual Lyrics:

She lives inside a glass house across the lane
The walls are full of photographs she saved
All the children wave on their way to school
They’ve seen every film she ever made

Something inside her is burning out
Something just wants to shout
Somebody somewhere will change your mind
Somebody somewhere

Resulting Lyrics:

He lives in transactions across a glass house
He saved the walls are filled with photos
All the children wave their way to school
I have seen every film they ever made

Some of them out of the water within the
Some just want to shout
Any changes will be somewhere on your mind
no anywhere

Gowan’s Strange Animal, from English-Javanese-English…

Actual Lyrics:

Well they say I should approach you with caution
But not to let you be aware of my fear
Never know what you’ll find
Don’t understand your kind ’round here

Watching your moves
They look so radical
Hearing your words
They sound fanatical
Something inside reveals you’re magical
How can I get enough

You’re a strange animal
That’s what I know
But you’re a strange animal
I’ve got to follow

Resulting Lyrics:

Also they say I have to approach it with caution
But not to be aware of the fear
Never know what you will find
Not knowing the type ‘ round here

Watch your moves
They look so radical
hearing words
They sound fanatical
Something inside told you the divine
How can I get enough

It is a strange animal
I know what
But you strange animal
I’ve got to do

Glass Tiger’s Someday, from English-Traditional Chinese-English…

Actual Lyric:

When I come home
You telephone, and say
You’re waiting for me.
I ask you why, I hear you cry, but
You’re still waiting for me.

You’ll be shedding your tears
To cry over me
I’ll be losing this fear.

Now I’m alone
You telephone and tell me you don’t need me
I ask you why
You tell me lies and say the truth would hurt me.

Resulting Lyrics:

When I go home
Your phone and say
You waiting for me.

I ask you why, I hear you cry , but
Are you still waiting for me.

One day,
You’ll fall off your tears
Cry me
One day,
I will lose this fear.

Now I am a man
You call and tell me you do not need me
I ask you why
You tell me lies, telling the truth would hurt me.

Oh man. Our 80s would’ve been stranger, if these were the actual words…

  1. I WILL work with you.

  2. I think this is terrific, why? Because when my feelings are referred to throughout the night!
You’ll fall off your tears is another spot-on translation!

    • These are just brilliant. I’m having a great time with these.

I also found philosophical joy in the difference between “something inside reveals you’re magical” to “something inside told you the divine.”
