New Look KMA… Again!

You’d think we were restless. Well, Aaron generally is (he can’t speak for James)! We all knew this.

But the idea here is to start hammering the ether with concise reviews of whatever is here in the collection. And that collection, as it turns out after the massive library reorganization done recently, is really rather huge.

There were no issues with the Suits theme we had previously. It was cool, and very pleasing visually as it was. But if that much content is gonna be coming at you, having one post at a time visible at the top of the page, things were gonna get lost pretty damn quickly in the the push down the page. And we don’t want you to miss out on any of the KMA goodness!

So. This theme makes everything much more accessible by putting teaser blurbs in a line across the page. I also found a neat setting where, if you (our Dear Readers) re-size your browser window, the number of posts in each row will adjust to match the size. Go ahead and try it!

I am also deeply in love with the picture in the upper left. It’s very cool and, if all you saw was that picture, youd know what this blog is all about! Perfect advertising. Sadly, though, the use of that picture made us lose the lady boners and burgergasms. But don’t worry. I’m already on a workaround.

So. Posts are chronological with newest posts always in the upper left. Of course, you all Follow this blog anyway (thank you so much for that, but if you don’t Follow yet, hop to it please! 🙂 ) so you’ll get emails every time another salvo comes over the fence. But this way, at least, you’ll be able to know you’re up to date at a cheap and easy glance. But not as cheap as your girlfriend. Ohhh!

  1. The only thing I’ll say is that the infinite grail list now needs to be put as a static page at the top. It’s missing here (on my tablet, at least) – > only a suggestion.

    • Yes! Thanks! I was working on that one too, last night…

On the Suits theme, I could add a Text widget to the sidebar that allowed hyperlinked text, so that’s how the grail list was always linked. On this theme – so far anyway – I cannot get the Text widget to allow hyperlinked text in the sidebar! It’s very strange, you’d think the functionality of the widget would be the same…

So yes, maybe I can look into a sticky post, something like that. Great suggestion Sarca, and thanks!

      • I wanted to tell you that last week I tried to access the grail list using the wp app on my phone, and it wouldn’t let me. Then tried to access it using the mobile browser – still couldn’t. It might have been the suits theme, I dunno. Point is, the sticky post might be the workaround. on that.
You take that pic of the turntable? It’s really nice! And since your blog is more text based and less photies, the theme works.

        • That’s weird about the grail list. It’s just a post in the list… Hm. Maybe the link I had in the sidebar stopped working or something… Oh well, it’s of no matter now, I have it as a sticky on the new theme.

I didn’t take the photie of the turntable, that was a freebie shot from Wiki.

Yeah, Scott and I were talking about the storage capacity of the blog, I think we established it’s 3GB total, not per year or anything else. Anyway, I don’t wanna have to pay for the blog, so we’ll just (mostly) stick to texts. I’ve thrown up a few pics recently, but by and large nope. And with 8 years of content, we’re still only using 3% of the capacity.

          • You could use your google account’s photos app to load pics to and then use the image urls in your blog, if you were wanting to use more pics, but were afraid of using too much space. I’ve done that. Most of my photos are loaded in wp, and I’ve barely used 3% (so it says). But I don’t want to pay a red cent until necessary.

            • An interesting idea! But the only photos I could think of adding would be an album cover for each one, but we’ve got almost 1200 posts and I’m not going back to update all of that! And couldn’t I just do it going forward? Sure! But I’m nuts enough for that to bother me and then I’d HAVE TO go back and do them all, so I’m better to just not go there.

I’ll still add photos when showing you is way better than just telling you (like the Eric Crapton cassette).

I’m not paying for the blog either. So, keeping it mostly text is fine by me.

              • I’m the same way, believe me! I’m still going back to add my own screenshots of games where I essentially linked to other image sites, or the pics were scant ’cause I didn’t have capture software back then. Trying to do this legit. But I only have 199 blogposts – not 1200!
My blog needs the visualization, not just for my audience, but for me. And I like the graphic aspect. It’s fun!

          • BTW, it was the fact I wasn’t able to access ANYTHING from the side panel. It was as though the side panel just didn’t “exist”. I concluded that it’s how Suits is reconfigured for mobile devices.

    • Also, I’ve restored the Lady Boners. Upper right-hand corner. 🙂

    • Also, just curious, how does it look on your tablet? I don’t have one so I’d be very curious to know! Thanks!

  2. Looks good man from my iPad! Awesome….

  3. I’m diggin’ the new picture!
