Grail List Additions: Aaron Edition

Hey folks, I’ve come across information about a few more CDs that would make me very very happy, but I cannot seem to find them online at all, or for crazy high prices. So, I’ll be adding these to the official Grail Search Master List.

Blue Rodeo – Live in Stratford January 13*, 2006 (2CD Instant Live)
Various – Borrowed Tunes: A Tribute To Neil Young
Various – Borrowed Tunes: A Tribute To Neil Young 2

* the January 14, 2006 show is available from the band’s web page, and I will have that one soon. It’s the show on the 13th that I need.

Cool! Which two? ‘Cos I look at this list and know most (if not all) of them but I grew up on this stuff so I’m curious to know who leaked out into the outside world hahaha!

Yes! Jeff Healey Band is a big one here. Shame the time I saw them live he was in a BAD mood. Ah well. And speaking of Cowboy Junkies, I still wanna get their re-do of the Trinity Sessions. I think it was 20th anniversary? They went back to the same church and re-recorded all the same songs, in the same way (whole band around one microphone). Yup, gotta get me that – I love the old original! Everytime I’m in that area in Toronto we walk past that church and I talk at my lovely wife about that CD. She’s a very patient lady! Also, have you got the Nomad series? Just… WOW! I got mine all in the digipak box set rather than individually. Highly recommended, if you’re looking for more great Junkies!

But wait! Don’t order it from your Amazon! Their £35 is $64 CDN, and on our Amazon it’s $30 CDN (about £17 for you)! So if you’re wanting it, I could get it here and ship it to you for WAY less than you’d pay, I’d wager.

              It’s also a 5LP set, 180g with book, but that one’s almost $240 CDN (£135, roughly).

Was just looking at the vinyl there! Oooft! They have a few of the CDs in my local record store, so might need to take a look at them again …

Oooft is right! But how gorgeous would that sound, though, right? 🙂

For the CJs albums, watch the price. I hope they don’t charge you import price for them over there! They tend to be $5 or less here for solid used copies.

They had a couple o’ the CDs for less than £6 last time I saw them, so wouldn’t imagine I’d have to pay too much …

It usually depends on the album here – if it’s something that’s been really popular we can pick it up for as little as £1. Something that doesn’t come around that often is a bit more. The Cowboy Junkies stuff was about £5 – £6 new (maybe £7) so not so bad.

Nope that’s pretty good! Especially when youre getting the quality of their stuff!

And don’t forget, if there’s anything of theirs you can’t get, or ANYTHING ELSE, for that matter, send us your Grail Item Search list and we’ll get all our KMA Readers looking for them for you! [the grail list can be found as the sticky post in the upper left corner of our main page. Drop a comment there with your list and I’ll update!]

Cheers, man. I’m actually about close to ‘finalising’ a grail list that I’ll send you. Really just a bunch o’ records that don’t seem so easy to get hold of over here.

Oh yes indeed. Now Blue Moon… ahhh… You know, it occurs to me that I more often play this one in the evening, but it’s working for me in the middle of a snow storm at 3 p.m. too!

Yup, I’m sure the Junkies would approve. All the way down to Working On A Building, now. Ahhhhh…

Yeah man, we had bare roads and green grass yesterday, which was completely unnatural. I can’t recall our last green Christmas. It was WEIRD. And now we’re getting buried and there’s a snow squall warning for all of tonight! I love it! LET IT SNOW!!

Hey can you add that Jan 13 show to my Grail list too?

I will tell you buddy, the CD for the Jan 14 show is also great. And that double live I’m picking up for you (already purchased) was at least partly recorded in Stratford.

I was lucky enough to attend one of their annual shows in the round at the Stratford festival. 2002 I believe. Right before Palace of Gold I think. They had a three piece horn section. During the intermission, a guy jumped on stage from the crowd. It was his birthday and the band invited him to play during the intermission! He grabbed a guitar and strummed a couple tunes! What a unique show experience.

Will add the 13th show to your list too! You hear that folks? Now we need TWO of them!! Our work is cut out for us now!!

You already got that Vacation set? Damn man, you move FAST!

I’d love to see BR live. Another one I’ve had plenty of opportunities, surely, but never gone. Isn’t that nuts? NUTS! And I call myself a fan. I mean, Cuddy came around to my town and played the little summerfolk festival solo, but I couldn’t see paying the whole day’s admission to see one artist, and I think I’d rather see the whole band. Anyway. I suck, basically. Never seen ’em. OVERSIIIIIIGHT!

I don’t “have” that Vacation set, it’s not in my hands yet, but it’s expected to ship tomorrow 🙂

I recommend seeing Cuddy live given the chance. I have a post coming up in a week or so, a journal entry regarding a Cuddy solo show I saw. Brought back memories!

Damn man that’s still pretty quick!

I woulda gone to see Cuddy but I couldn’t bring my self to pay for ten other artists I didn’t know, and stand in the heat all day with all the patchouli-reeking drunks who swear they love folk music and only go to that one 3-day festival once a year. Jerks. Anyway, friends of ours were volunteers on the crew for the fest, and said Cuddy was a big jerk the whole time, really acted like people were beneath him, and right to their faces. Even emptied their bus garbage bags into the venue parking lot before rolling out. I dunno, I wasn’t there, but these are honest folks. Still, the music would’ve been good!
