  1. Man that looks awesome!

    • Damn straight! And with the LZ I, II and III that were for my birthday back in the summer, I am now all caught up on the Zep reissues so far! And all in the drool-inducing 180g 2LP sets!! My folks ROCK!!

  2. Looking forward to your reviews of these. I got the Super Deluxe Editions (of course) and that series continues to be stunning, but I was slightly disappointed in the sound of the Houses Of The Holy LP. To my ears, the “companion audio” disc sounded much better. Zeppelin IV, though, sound great. Enjoy your new acquisitions.

    • Congrats on the Super Deluxes, Rich! You’re a lucky man! I’m very surprised there would be sound issues on any of these releases. Page is such a stickler and his remasters so far have been superb. I wonder if it was a problem somewhere in the pressing, not from his end… what exactly did you notice? Is it too quiet or something? I’ll definitely keep my ears open for any issue. I have the old original CD, and the tracks on the 1990 box set so I can compare…

I’m certain I will enjoy these next two in the series, reviews definitely forthcoming! If they’re anything like the last three, they’ll still be solid, surely. I’m most excited about the companion audio.

I also noted that our friendly neighbourhood Lebrain got all 5 of these sets on CD for Christmas. Can’t wait for HIS reviews!!

      • The “Houses Of The Holy” LP is extremely bass-heavy, almost to the point of distortion. Next time I play it I’ll have to tweak the settings on my receiver, but compared to the other Zeppelin LPs it wasn’t on the same level.

I didn’t think I would ever write about the Zeppelin catalog at my blog since they’ve been my favorite band for 35+ years and I prefer to focus on the less frequently played artists in my collection, but I think I’ll write a series on the Super Deluxe box sets once they’ve all been released. So stay tuned for that sometime in late 2015 or early 2016…depending on their release schedule.

        • Whoa, the bottom end on The Ocean was even bigger? Geez, Rich, I hope that didn’t cause structural damage to your house!! 🙂 Well, I will definitely keep an ear out for that. I’m playing my CD of it right now so I’ll have a sense of it when I dig my teeth into it!

I understand fully just leaving them alone like that. On the other hand, your 35 years of immersion, understanding and love may yield a series of epic proportions and it might open them up to you again by getting them outside your head in the writing process… Me, I’d say go for it. But if your gut says nope, you gotta go with your gut. And if so, I’ll wait for your (eventual) super deluxe write-ups!

        • Early 2016? Rich, do you realize that there will be a new Star Wars movie before then?

I’m just kidding. You take your time and let the music tell you when to go for it!
