AC/DC – Rock Or Bust

AC/DC – Rock Or Bust

Huge thanks to the mighty Superdekes for letting me hear his copy of this record!

This is current AC/DC. Actually, if you know that sound, we could end this thing right there. But…

Those amazing, indelible riffs are still there and, at high enough volume (believe me, that’s how I played it), it still rocks damned hard! The title track (and the first single) is so much from the chiselled AC/DC template that you’d think no time had ever passed  (and nothing bad had befallen the band) since their last record! All the tracks here are the same thing – c’mon, it’s AC/DC – but I heard some fun playful things, like Rock The Blues Away, which sounds like AC/DC covering John Mellencamp. Or Got Some Rock & Roll Thunder, the guitar for which (to me) sounds a bit like Eagles… It’s not a bad thing, it’s fun! Also, I definitely think Hard Times needs to be a single, that song burns!

Folks, this was exactly what we all needed. Yes!

Long may AC/DC reign!  \m/  \m/

  1. Glad Ya dug it!…

  2. I had reasonable expectations for this album and they definitely exceeded them. It’s not a classic but it’s still a vital collection of hard rock tunes that sounds like no one other than AC/DC. None of their imitators, even those half their age, could come close to this. And it’s especially surprising considering how much turmoil was going on behind the scenes. As you wrote so eloquently, this was “exactly what we all needed.” Agreed!

  3. I’d love to see them again at Downsview Park this summer – just checked, tickets are $138.75 on ticketmaster (yikes), time to start entering contests to hopefully win some!

  4. I’ve only listened a handful of times, bit have enjoyed it. Unmistakably AC/DC …
