Ministry Of Sound – Anthems Hip Hop I

Anthems Hip Hop I

I don’t listen to hip hop all the time, but sometimes it’s the only thing that’ll do! And this series from Ministry Of Sound is an awesome mix of classics we all know and love, and songs I’d never heard before. Really cool to have so much all in one place.

  1. Tangled Up In Music (by Ovidiu Boar)

For me, hip-hop has always been a songs/singles genre, as opposed to an albums one. Surely there are consistent albums from start to finish or albums tied together by a particular theme, but for most artists I just listen to self-made playlists with my favourite songs of theirs. So yeah, I think these compilations look great, many classic songs.

    • These compilations are fantastic for getting the songs you’re gonna want, they’re loaded to the gills with them! There’s still a zillion tunes missing, but this series doesn’t seem to have stopped yet so give them time. Yeah, a lot of this stuff, I would only have wanted to own the singles anyway and this is a GREAT way to collect up the hits. And it makes GREAT work-out music for the gym. I ran two miles with this in my ears last night. Great fun!

    • Was also going to say I agree, very few rap artists are album bands. Beasties, Jurassic 5, definitely the Roots… but so many are hit and miss, too much filler.

  2. I presume the Common one’s not a GNR cover?!
Nice choice of Fu-Gee-La, I was quite impressed by the Score!

    • Haha nope, the Common’s not a cover, though I hve to admit I’d love to here THAT. And to be fair, it is titled Used To Love H.E.R… Very different song.

It’s been ages since I heard The Score. I have it here somewhere though, I think…

  3. For me personally, 3 CDs of this is about 2 CDs too much!

  4. Wowzers that’s a ton of tracks!
