Record Store Day 2015 Arrivals

Record Store Day 2015 Arrivals

Recently, I excitedly reported on how I’d thought RSD was gonna suck for me this year, but how I ended up with the two things I sought anyway. Well, as of today, they are both officially in my hot little hands!!

Metallica’s No Life ‘Til Leather demo cassette (Limited to 10,000 copies):

I know, I know. Cassette. And as Mike pointed out, it’ll likely be on CD later (and with extra stuff anyway) when they do their re-release series (coming soon). Still, it’s a cool keepsake. And every time I check it on Discogs, the lowest prices keep elevating. Who knows, if I hang onto this long enough, maybe I can buy my kid 20 minutes at college someday.

Sloan’s Alternates 12″ EP (Limited to 1,000 copies):

These are different versions of songs from their latest record, Commonwealth. It’s on green translucent vinyl, too. Slooooo-ooooan!!!

In Sum:

I haven’t opened either of them yet. I just wanna… look at all the majesty for a while longer… But I am exceedingly happy to have found (and received) these wonderful items from this year’s RSD. Good times!

Haha when I first read that opening line of your comment, I thought you were saying that Metallica is a beautiful museum piece! Hm…

If I hand that sucker to my grandchildren, they’ll just say “oh there goes Grandpa again, let’s just leave him to his nostalgia. Oh, and it’s your turn to wheel him out into the sun…”

Yes! Both of these were well worth the wonder and worry and hassle of getting them here. True RSD items, not just reissues of things that you can easily get elsewhere.

One of these years I need to do the drive and be in a town that is actually participating in RSD, be there in person for the excitement! Of course, now that I’ve proven I can sit here in my pajamas and make the things I want come directly to my door, perhaps the work of it is unnecessary…

Oooft! One of the only things I was interested in this RSD is ridiculously priced on Discogs, so there aint no way I’m getting ivolved on RSD on there! No sir!

Haha fair enough, although Mike just got the Sloan EP for a little less than I paid, so sometimes it can work out the other way. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for the Neko for in when I go to Taranna in a couple of weeks!

Oooft! Normally I’d say “you bet”. Right now, though I’m cutting back on the ol’ record budget ahead of recording!

Yup – you betcha. I realise that I have never been mentioned such things before. This will be number two.

Don’t have this, no. Nice to see this at a reasonable price, too (was looking at a copy on eBay quite a while back that was a fair bit more expensive). The Roman Remains Remix is quite brilliant. Definitely worth checking out on YouTube!

Hop to it, Discogs has ’em under $20 right now. Won’t last.

Yeah, youd think there’d be somebody who’d sell it reasonably. I’ll have a look-see in the big shitty.

No worries. I always wait til it’s in my hands before I remove from the list. What if the postal service mucks it up?

Congrats, I think it’ll be a cool keeper, just like all the other Limited stuff they’ve put out through their web site!

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but the same thing happens with toys. A new wave of toys will come out, the scalpers will hang out at the stores and grab them as boxes are being unpacked, and the rarest ones will be on eBay for 2-3 times what they paid the same day.

I guess, but they are despised in the toy community, just as I’m sure RSD scalpers are becoming! A lot of them reportedly have connections inside the stores and many toys never see the shelves.

Yeah! I like it, I’m glad the band did it, it’s a nice connection to the past. If you’re enough of a Metallica fan to be a collector, I’d see if I can find one of these before the price gets too stupid!
