Holy hell I love this record. It swings, it drips in blues, it has some country, and it has more style in its little finger than I do in all my everything. The lyrics are smart and funny, and his Large Band is so damn good it isn’t fair to anyone else.
This album’s sound hearkens back to a different time, and proves that music doesn’t always have to be right in your face all the time. Little flourishes can speak volumes more than another time through a mindless chorus. It proves that things can still be done with beauty and taste.
I put this album on when I need something I can trust, that always puts a smile on my face, always makes me feel better. It’s an old friend.
Thank you, Lyle. This one’s a fave of mine.
