AC/DC – Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve reviewed this here already or not. It’s possible, but so what? This is AC/DC and it fuckin’ rocks. I could play it and write it up once a month, it’s still all good!
I was two years old when they made this album. Of course, my lovely wife just told me that they built the CN Tower the year we were born, too, so there you go.
The title track is classic rough fun. I still can’t shake hearing Phantom Of The Opera in the intro and guitar line of the goofy Big Balls. I wonder if Lloyd Webber was offering up a tenth anniversary homage? Haha probably not.
A track like Rocker knocks you backwards, double speed the usual template sound (like the following track, Problem Child). I really like the intro riff of Ain’t No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire). Shame it hits that chug and gets stuck there for so long! But it’s hard to gripe. It still rocks. And a fave for me here is Ride On, a slow blues curveball with a real tale to tell. Love it.
This is simply glorious, dangerous, visceral fun. It rocks like hell and it drips the blues and Chuck Berry from every pore. Just like every time I spin it, I loved every second of it.
PS There’s a ton of info on the differences between the Australian and International versions RIGHT HERE.
