The Taranna Was Hot Series: Part 16/25
Found this 1998 debut solo release for $2.99 at Sonic Boom. You’ll know Blue Rodeo’s mid-tempo and ballad country and rock tracks that sound like only they can, and that’s basically what we have here. Cuddy’s distinctive vocals carry so well over these tunes, and the playing is stellar. I loved every track.
Guests: Blue Rodeo’s Bazil Donovan and Colin Cripps, Wilco’s Jay Bennett and Jeff Tweedy, Michelle McAdorey, Sarah Harmer, Melanie Doane, Gavin Brown, John Whynot, and Andy Maize.
I’ve finished reading this before I even have a sip of coffee! Bam! Just like that!
Never heard of this dude, but that’s a fine bunch o’ pals who’ve joined him for this one.

Haha you clearly don’t gulp coffee like I do!
Jim Cuddy is a member (vox, guitars) of Blue Rodeo. I think I sent you some of their stuff. I cannot recommend enough that you dig into it. Buy them all! They’re brilliant. And right up your street, I’d wager.

I fair enjoy what I’ve heard of Blue Rodeo, though I do want to like them more than I do.

Huh, maybe they need more time in your stereo! 🙂

He’s got such a wonderfully gentle voice – and this was another wonderfully succinct review Aaron!

That voice is distinctive, for sure. And thanks Geoff – I’m aiming at 80 words all week, not that locquacious 200! 😉

Great album — saw him live on his second solo tour and he toured with Bazil and Bob Packwood from Blue Rodeo.

Yup this one’s a keeper. He has a thing he does with music, and I like it! Cool you got to see him play.

I got it wrong, it wasn’t this tour it was the one before. But Bazil plays on ALL his albums.

Was that The Light That Guides You Home or whatever that was called?
Bazil’s great!
