Kudos to Bruce for this excellent banner!

Kudos to Bruce for this excellent banner!

Welcome to the massive group effort Film [Soundtrack] Festival! From November 1-14, we’re covering all sorts of movie soundtracks. There’ll surely be lots for everybody! Huge thanks to Bruce at THE VINYL CONNECTION for this fantastic group post idea! COMMUNITY!

Check out THIS PAGE for all the entries.

Haha do I even need to tell you about this amazing soundtrack (and book and movie)? Probably not… I’d bet all of us either own or at least have heard this album, seen the movie, and read Roddy Doyle’s fantastic book.

It has so much heart (and soul), you just can’t help rooting for the band, even when you know they’re imploding. And they do bang up jobs on all of these tunes, too, oh baby.

This band toured afterwards, too. What a cool thing. And there’s a second disc of songs, released as Part 2!

Pretty hard to be perfect, but I defy anyone to tell me there’s something wrong with any of this one!

The whole story is right here!

The Songs:
Mustang Sally
Take Me To The River
Chain Of Fools
The Dark End Of The Street
Destination Anywhere
I Can’t Stand The Rain
Try A Little Tenderness
Treat Her Right
Do Right Woman, Do Right Man
Mr. Pitiful
I Never Loved A Man
In The Midnight Hour
Bye Bye Baby
Slip Away

  1. Bought this movie — loaned it — had to buy it again!

Love this soundtrack, the film, the book, and really, the whole Tarrytown trilogy. My question is this: Have you read ‘The guts’ by the same author? It’s all about the main character, Jimmy Rabbitt, 30 years after the fact. Fantastic read.

  3. I never bothered much with the ST as a separate entity but I love the film, watched it last week for the first time since I saw it at the cinema thousands of years ago and it was better than i remembered it being.

  4. I never really bothered with the soundtrack, but I like the movie a whole lot. Haven’t seen it in a long time, though…
