John Williams – Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

Kudos to Bruce for this excellent banner!

Welcome to the massive group effort Film [Soundtrack] Festival! From November 1-14, we’re covering all sorts of movie soundtracks. There’ll surely be lots for everybody! Huge thanks to Bruce at THE VINYL CONNECTION for this fantastic group post idea! COMMUNITY!

Check out THIS PAGE for all the entries.

NB: I owned this CD ages ago, bought it on import (at import prices!) at Sam The Record Man on Yonge in Toronto. It’s not one I would ever have sold off, but the disc still went missing at some point. So this one is my replacement copy. I won’t ever be without it.

Before starting high school, my parents took a friend and I to Ottawa. We stayed at Chateau Laurier, took in a Karsh exhibit, and saw this film. Great times.

We loved the first two Indy movies, so this was an instant classic. For me the music held special significance. I can still hum the whole damn CD today. As with Williams’ works, the score was so perfectly suited to the film. And that main theme! Damn.

Music for a lifetime.

  1. Holy crap, didn’t know you had this, twice. I do not have it. I don’t have any Indy soundtracks! When I was younger I gave all my vinyl to my sister and I don’t regret that, she treasures them. But I never had Last Crusade either. I’ve seen it around, but only recently have I decided to collect these soundtracks again.

I think this surely must be rare these days?

  2. Can you imagine any of those movies without the Williams scores? I wouldn’t want to, they’re integral!

  3. John Williams, what a composer he is.
