Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble – In Step

I paid only $3 for this CD at Sonic Boom. Crazy!

The 5th Annual Toronto Expedition Series, Part 36 (CD)

Their fourth record, this was Stevie’s last with Double Trouble (he died a year later).

It’s been noted that the title likely refers to Stevie’s addiction rehab. Perhaps that’s why he was jamming the blues rock of his we all love with sweet soul (horns! I love the horns!) and just a fantastic sound all around.

He recorded Family Style with Jimmie after this. That and this record were excellent directions in which he was heading!

Really like this one… only Stevie Ray Vaughan (studio album) I don’t yet own on vinyl. Really splendid album.

This album should be in everyone’s record collection. Glad you got a copy. I was fortunate to see him on the tour in support of this album. I also saw him a few years earlier, when he was still under the influence. Both shows were great but he was much more impressive when he was clean & sober. In fact, that was a co-headliner tour with Jeff Beck and I thought SRV was just a little bit better.

Hey thanks Rich! I’m admittedly jealous you got to see him play – and more than once! I’m glad he was trying to clean up, anyway, and that his playing got better as a result.

Also, Beck and Vaughan on the same bill? Talk about heaven!
