Dillinger Escape Plan – Dissociation

I had this album on my Must Get Albums Of 2016 List, and here it finally is. I LOVED IT!

This one rules. It’s punk, metal, jazz, atmospheric, electronic, melodic, crazy, razor sharp… They’ve taken chances here (strings?!), but then again it wouldn’t be friggin’ Dillinger if they hadn’t.

Dillinger is done after this, (their 6th) record. Ben Weinman announced they’d “go out while we’re still on top,” and they’ve nailed it. As a parting statement, this one is a fucking perfect record. It’s bittersweet to see them go, but I understand.

  1. Got it as a late Christmas present the other day! Will probably review it by the time I’ve heard it.

  2. I know you’ve mentioned liking this lot before, so glad this one delivers the goods, fella. Definitely sounds intriguing.

    • I do really like DEP, but I know they are definitely not for everybody. For those into it, though, this one definitely delivers. Like everything else I’ve heard from them, it’s a wild ride. The electronic and orchestral additions this time are new…

I have a co-worker who saw them live for this tour and said these songs absolutely killed in a concert setting. I believe him. 🙂

  3. I like the album cover too.

  4. There’s something to be said for going out on your own terms – nice to hear they kept taking chances right to the end!
