Chevelle – Wonder What’s Next

Yesterday afternoon, I couldn’t log in to WP. I tried everything, even rebooted my machine, tried several devices… the internet worked fine, but no WP! Weird. Then, at almost 01:00 this morning, it worked! So I’m getting this in here before it craps out again.

Next up in the IOU Series, this one’s for Boppin! I’d found this one in the bin at my work, in glorious red transparent double LP. Bop and I (and I think Mike) discussed it… I don’t precisely remember what was said about it at the time, but I did up a quick and dirty 80-word blast for y’all…

Report: A hard-hitting, well-balanced record with a full, satisfying sound. The mix, the volume at which everything assaults you is clean and prominent.

I haven’t heard any of their other records, but this is a truly heavy album on a level with Deftones, even Tool. The riffs are crushing, the melodies are catchy as hell. It all works well.

I needed to hear this album right now. Super-cool find on red vinyl, too.

Right on, Chevelle!

  1. Nice red vinyl! Great album and great band.

  2. Nice find. $1 is a no-brainer even if you just like a track or two, huh? I don’t remember much about this band at all. They had a single called The Red, which was kinda Deftones-lite, but it wasn’t bad by any means.
