KMA2623 Guns N’ Roses – Appetite For Destruction 2018 2LP Re-Issue

Interim Series: THE AWESOMENESS OF JAMES, PT.1

Right. So we need to talk about the awesomeness of my KMA brother James again. Because THIS gloriousness arrived in the mail for my birthday:

Limited Edition – Foil Slipcase With Robert Williams Original Jacket Art – 2LP – 180g Audiophile Reissue – Gatefold

Remastered for (sic) First Time from Original Stereo Analog Tapes from 192kHz 24-bit High Resolution Transfers

Digital Download Card Included for CD Quality Digital Edition of Album

EXTRA BONUS: GN’R Logo Hologroove Hologram

Oh my.

Now, I don’t need to tell you how much the gift of this beautiful set is awesome, and I really don’t need to tell you (you know already) how much this album rocks.

I will tell you that I dropped the needle of my Rega onto this badass and this LP sounds FANTASTIC and it’s like a bomb going off in the Man Cave and I’m back in 1987 again and holy crap this album was an absolute monster. It has lost none of its swagger, it’s leering sweaty drunken groping, it’s fuck you attitude, its ballsy bluesy perfection, and here it all sounds friggin’ huge.

It’s fun to have it on three huge sides, with the fourth side being the Hologroove Hologram (see video below), and the original artwork was/is, well, as provocative as ever.

But really we come here for the tunes, don’t we. This album, my goodness. Every track a killer.

Best debut album ever? Discuss.

James. JAMES. Thank youuuuuuu!!!

  1. Noooo not the best debut ever, not even in the top 20. Not even in the top 50.

    But it’s good enough.

I’d like the 5 disc, this sounds amazing.

  2. This looks nice. I still haven’t bitten the bullet on it. I don’t know if it is the best, but it is pretty damn great!

  3. JAMES=Great Friend!
I have no idea where it would be in my Top Debuts of all time…
But it’s in my all Top 20…
An album that came out at a time when Hairspray and Lipstick were ruling the charts….
This is a album by a band that had nothing to lose and everything to gain….

    • James does indeed = great friend, and not just because he sends birfday awesomenesses!

Haha I asked that best debut question to see what would happen and so far between you and Mike it’s “not even Top 50” and “in all my Top 20.” Looking forward to more comments!

Nothing to lose and everything to gain, you nailed it there.

  5. Amazing gift. The hologram looks great.

For me it’s the best debut album of all time. It’s leagues ahead of everything else they did as a band. They’re not my fav band but that record is u touchable

    • Absolutely. The hologram is fun. As Mike pointed out, there are lots of great debut albums. Maybe this one is one of the better ones in terms of sass, brass, and kicking ass in a bluesy rocking way? Haha I dunno.

  6. Agreed! Every track a killer.

  7. Well done James!
And it’s likely a top 5 debut for me – Weezer’s blue is my undisputed #1 but an argument could be made for this as my #2!

  8. Man, catching up on your posts… and this… yikes!! Nice one, James… belated birthday wishes to you…

Best debut… hard to argue against it. I mean, my own personal favourite might be this, cause it’s just outrageous. As good as Sabbath and Zep is, they were never this audacious.
