What a cool album (and cover). Yeah Marty was born to sing these tunes. I just did a take on ‘Hanging Tree’ the film. I love that song and film.

Marty Robbins was my mother’s favourite singer.
He also appears in a song by The Who.
He is a cut above the average country-and-western (not the same as country!) singer.
He even had his own TV show back in the late 80s!

“Out in the West Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl.”
I haven’t heard that for more than 35 years, but am reasonably sure that I am quoting it correctly.

I am trying to imagine him singing with the Who. Wow.
Easy to understand why he’d be your Mom’s favourite, the guy had a great voice.
I did not know about the TV show either!

Sorry for the confusion. He never sang with The Who, as far as I know. He appears in the lyrics of a Who song, namely “God Speaks of Marty Robbins” from Endless Wire:

The television show was Marty Robbins’ Spotlight. Check out YouTube.
