Eagles Lines

I don’t know if this ever happens to you, but it does to me, on occasion:

Some songs have lyrics that hit you just right at just the right time in your life, or in a song by itself, and forever afterwards, whenever you hear them, you know that music is, for these small moments, still in good hands.

Here are three (of so many) Eagles/related moments:

Eagles – Take It Easy “We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again, so open up by climbing in, and take it easy”

That line just hums with real.

Eagles – Hotel California “we haven’t had that spirit here since 1969”

Inspired writing and nailed perfectly in the tune.

Don Henley – Boys Of Summer “Out on the road today I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac / A little voice inside my head said / Don’t look back, you can never look back”

Goddamn right.

You can probably quote a ton more. Drop a comment!

  1. No Eagles lines in my head. Nope. None at all.

  2. My all time favourite Eagles lyric is the final line from the song “The Last Resort” from the Hotel California album: “Call someplace paradise, kiss it goodbye.”

  3. Jackson Browne and Don Henley are both good lyricists. I like their burn on Steely Dan – they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can’t kill the beast.

  4. I could quote the entire Hotel California song…what a picture they painted with those lyrics.

  5. For some reason, they’re a group that I’ve never been able to get too jazzed about – I’m not as offended as The Dude when asked about them, but I’m also not likely to get their lines stuck in my head!

  6. Don Henley is a Grumpy Guy!
    There I said it!
