News first:
- Today was the first day I logged in to put up today’s post and was confronted with the new WP editor as default choice. It sucks. However, I discovered that if I start the post in the new editor, and then ‘x’ out and choose to leave the page, I can go to WP Admin/Posts and see the draft at the top of the posts list. There, I can choose Classic Editor and finish the post with the old editor I’ve used for years. Your mileage may vary, but this worked for me today. I don’t mind the extra steps, because that new editor is absolutely horrible.
- I’ve been posting Youtube links to songs for all these albums I’m posting. Now, I do have an ad-blocker on this computer but, since my good old one was discontinued, I have never been able to find a current ad blocker that blocks those ads at the beginning of a video, the ones that can be skipped after 5 seconds. All this is to say fuck you, Grammarly, I’ve heard the first five seconds of your damn ad so many times that I will never, ever use your product and I will tell everyone I know to avoid you, too. Avoid Grammarly, people.

Anyways, Bad Religion. Always relevant, always awesome.
I can’t spell so I use Grammarly and ad blocker on YouTube. I leave it off for sites like MikeLadano.com.

Well I’m glad Grammarly helps you, then, but their ad is obnoxious and it’s the only one that keeps coming up here… on every single YouTube video I click on… gah. Right now I have Ghostery Lite on my Mac, it does a decent job of cutting out the mid-video ads, but it doesn’t get the pre-video ads. And it’s the best I’ve found, of late, of what’s out there right now in the free ad blockers. I’ve tried a bunch, too.

I use Adblock. You can add it as an extension in Chrome or Firefox.

That must be on Windows? I am still on this old Mac, still using Safari. I had to get Opera to be able to join Mike’s live streams, but I don’t use it otherwise… I’m an old dog, hard to teach me new tricks, all I ask is something that actually does what it says it’ll do. Of all the ones I tried, that is apparently too tall an order. Maybe someday.

Oh, yeah. Those extensions probably need the latest updates to work. Well, let me tell ya, YouTube without ads is a beautiful thing!

Yeah yeah, rub it in! I’m still trying to find a solid (free) ad blocker for MacOS that actually blocks all ads. If you hear of anything, let me know!

I’ll try that strategy to avoid the new editor – I don’t care for it either!

And it worked – that’s infinitely better! Thanks for the clear instructions, I missed the classic editor

Yay! You’re welocome, I think… I still sometimes have trouble getting back to the classic editor, or sometimes it won’t save what I do as a draft so when I go back to WP Admin/Posts it’s not there… gah. Change for the sake of change is for chumps. It wasn’t broken, WP! Leave it alone!

I know it’s a small thing, but over a whole bunch of videos (I just passed 150 of these things, in this series, plus whatever came before since it all started with Skip 5 in May), it starts to add up to ticking me off quite a bit.
