Barney Bentall And The Legendary Hearts – Lonely Avenue

Could they do it again? Could they repeat the success of their debut? Me, I say yes. 1990 saw the band release their second album, and it’s just more proof that there is something special about this band. The sound is here, the strong songwriting is fully intact, and that feel carries over. You know the feel, the one that takes you home.

There were two singles from this one, Crime Against Love (which you’ll know well – to me it reminds of The Police, in a good way), and the excellent Life Could Be Worse. Of course, there are a whole bunch of other great tracks too, I’ve posted a few more so you can hear them.

Try them! Then buy it!

Hooray! I cannot recomend BB&tLH enough. I’ll be going through quite a few of their albums in the next few days, and I think you’ll find there’s plenty of gold in them thar hills. Age has nothing to do with it! 🙂

That debut still gets spins today on local crap radio. As long as you got a couple to hits Cancon will get you the airplay.
Caught Bentall live here a few years back at the Bluesfest show. He was good but it was like people were milling about during his set and than when he played the hits everyone went ‘hey its that guy’ lol

That debut was really, really good, that helps! 🙂 Yeah I feel bad for Barney – shoulda been huge. HUGE. So many strong songs, perfect sound for the era, they had everything. Gah.

Your story reminds me of seeing Tom Cochrane (with Emm Gryner) and enjoying the show and then they played Life Is A Highway and everyone crushed to the front and enjoyment = gone. LOL

As well they should, but if they’re not there to hear the band, they oughta stay home or find a different bar and shout-talk at each other there, so they don’t piss off those of us who are there to actually hear the band! 😉
