In Which Aaron Admits He Went To Two Different Thrift Shoppes (Again) And Found More Goodies (Of Course) And Also Found A Couple Of Cool Magazines Too

I did it again. I found loads more $1 goodness at the thrift shoppes. Will I ever stop? Ha probably not, but it’s looking (again) like it may need a culling around here, shortly. I’m working on current criteria for that.

Apologies, I didn’t quite manage alphabetical order this time. The finds:

Billie Holiday – Billie’s Blues I mean, c’mon. I love, love, love Billie Holiday. Bon Jovi – Cross Road I didn’t have a Hits set for these guys. I know this isn’t likely the best one, but for $1, no problem. Dropkick Murphys – The Warrior’s Code Their first album, Do Or Die, remains one of my favourite things. I will enjoy a later effort! Roberta Flack – Softly With These Songs: The Best Of Roberta Flack I already had a Flack set of hits, but not this one. I’ll comapre and see which one is better.

Lena Horne – Greatest Hits Same as Billie Holiday, I mean, c’mon. A must-grab. Kings of Leon – Come Around Sundown I was pretty sure I’d heard this years ago, and I had! In 2014! Time for another go. Max Rebo Band – Return Of The Jedi Special Edition This is a really cool one-track single, with most of the disc clear plastic and just the middle bit silver CD. Neat-o! Run-D.M.C. – Run-D.M.C. vs Jason Nevis Remixes: Greatest Hits 1983-1998 I don’t know if I’ll like this or not. I like the originals. Do I need remixes? We’ll see.

Runrig – Long Distance: The Best Of Runrig I associate this act with Wolfstone, from half a lifetime ago, and a Hits set here pleases me greatly. Maybe my favourite score of the excursion, honestly. Soundgarden – King Animal For some reason I didn’t have this one. Oversiiiiiight corrected! Cat Stevens – Greatest Hits I mean, sure, why not. Urinesane – Home Recordings Bought purely on spec, still in the shrinkwrap. Turns out to be a local band from a couple of towns over. No idea what it sounds like, but I’m gonna find out!

Various: Blacktop Guerillas 2005 Canadian Campus Compilation (Mohawk College) These college discs are fun. Bring it! Various – Campus Sessions 2002-2003 A lot of excellent acts here, and some stuff that persuaded me to grab it up right quick. Various – Rok: Music World, EMI Music Canada, Virgin Music Canada Present Back in the day, Music World had cool compilations. I’d never seen this one before. Various – The Tarantino Collection I get why they made this, and it’s a cool time capsule, but he isn’t done making films and this dropped before Kill Bill, even, so I hope they make another one when he’s done.

Various – Murder Was The Case: The Soundtrack CD/DVD Not really my wheelhouse, so it’s a New To Me disc, really. The whole Death Row Records thing is not something I’ve followed. But this is a CD and a DVD for $1 so, really, even if it isn’t my thing I’m not out much.

Mojo Magazine 2021-08 and Uncut Magazine 2021-08. Going back to the early 90s and CMJ New Music Monthly, I’ve always loved buying magazines that come with CDs. Yes, I am a dinosaur. I know some folks will ditch the CDs and keep the magazines, but I do the reverse. I’ll (usually) eventually (after ages) get rid of the magazine but I keep the CDs. The music is the real meat in the meal, for me!

Whew. That’s a ton. I’ll get to ‘em eventually, as I go through all this stuff I’m finding. Thanks for Reading!

More CDs Aaron?!?! Did your finish listening to your CDs from your last thrift shop post?!?! But seriously, at least ‘Cross Road’ has “Always,” “Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night,” and “Blaze of Glory.”

I listen to an album a day (if not more) while working out. They get written up for the next day. Of course, buying so many in one go, this is why I’m behind. I don’t stress about it though, I’ll get to them all eventually.

      That’s what she said! Lol

Thanks! And I pick through a mountain of crap to find even these. And there were still more I would have bought but the discs weren’t in great shape, etc. A lot are bought to try them out, I won’t be keeping them all. But such is life in my collection. I buy up a pile so cheap, then some stay and some go. Rinse and repeat.

Naturally! Lol. I have a good chunk of our downstairs family room as the Man Cave, but my collection must share space with the guitars and amps, and all my workout equipment. There’s still a significant amount of shelf space here, but it ain’t infinite so I need to remind myself now and again that I can’t keep everything. I’m pretty much at capacity for both right now, so it’s about time again.

Cool thanks! I found my son a 2CD compilation (all black and yellow/gold cover) that, at least, had more stuff on it. I can borrow it if I need more lol.

I am enjoying all these forays. A year and a half of not doing that as a routine was not good for Aaron!
