The Spy Next Door
I’ve been introducing our kids to their first Jackie Chan movie. I love (love love love) Chan’s work, and I was right in thinking the kids would too.
We watched The Spy Next Door which, in the long list of his films, is a pretty bad/dumb film, but it’s about as kid-friendly as a Chan movie can get.
Wait. What has this got to do with music? The KMA is all about the tunes! What gives?
First up, Johnny Rivers’ 1966 tune Secret Agent Man is used as the main song for the film. Which, hilariously, is often misheard as Secret Asian Man. Interesting choice, Jackie!
And, well, this flick also contains Billy Ray Cyrus. I know, I know, you can’t really call what he did music, but this last tenuous connection is all I have to link it to our site.
Anyway, it’s Cyrus who gets the movie’s best one-liner. Watch from the start to about 0:35 of this clip and see if you can figure out why I laughed:
