Been ages since I spun this album, and I assumed it was gonna be too 1990s for 2019. Nope. Look past Mr. Jones and Round Here, there’s gold in these hills. Of course I still knew every word, every note. Shame it took me so long to come back here, as this was like meeting up with a long-lost friend.
Here’s another one I got at Sonic Boom for $0.99. This is also a replacement copy for me – like a fool, I probably sold off my old copy ages ago. Shouldn’t have done that…
The 5th Annual Toronto Expedition Series, Part 17 (CD)
This picks up from where August And Everything After leaves off, and pushes the band into new, articulate territory while still sounding very much like themselves.
It’s hard to pick favourite songs out of this list of so many, here. For singles, A Long December is a template introspective brilliance, Angel Of The Silences rocks, and Daylight Fading is country-pop perfection.
This is my favourite entire album by the band, possibly (maybe) better realized than AAEA. Absolutely essential.
