We all know that I like Hank. I’ve been following his adventures for years, and whatever he’s doing when I catch up with his output, it’s generally work of integrity, thought and energy. He’s been (relatively) quiet recently, so getting this book for Christmas 2013 really hit the spot. 

I have one other book, from the same REsearch publisher, in which Vale interviewed Rollins, called Real Conversations No. 1.*  Other interviews in that book were Jello Biafra, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and another of my heroes, Billy Childish.

This book, however, is all Rollins, no one else, just talking away about travel, the world, politics, his current (this was done in 2011) projects, you name it. The usual stuff you get from him in his talking shows. He even goes through essential gear to carry when traveling. It’s an insightful interview, and I found it interesting to read his thoughts on this, that, and the other. He really tries to live his line about “knowledge without mileage is bullshit,” and good on him.

I’m not sure the casual fan would want to rush out and buy this little book (it is small, yet packed with Rollins), but as a Rollins completist I was sure to add this to my Christmas list and I was really thrilled to open it up on the big day! ROLLINS.
