5 Knuckle Chuckle: All The Everything Pt.6

1995 – Charliee Horse (CD)

Already covered this one, in January 2014, right here.

It’s CanCon punker time! I love this disc. A definite Hit.

Here are a couple of salient bits of the review at that link if you don’t wanna read the whole thing:

“Yeah, they sound quite a bit like NOFX. In fact, they used to called themselves Noah Fence before deciding to move away from simlarities of band name and settling on 5 Knuckle Chuckle. But they’re probably really tired of hearing that comparison made. Besides, this isn’t as slick-sounding as NOFX, and thinking they’re carbon copies isn’t much fair to 5KC.

Still, it’s catchy, juvenile skate-punk with lots of melodic thrashy punk riffs and super-fast drumming.”

5 Knuckle Chuckle – Charliee Horse

I have a pitiful little collection of Canadian punk rock (I wish it was larger!) and this CD is an important part of it. These guys were out of Orangeville, ON in the early 90s. Yeah, they sound quite a bit like NOFX.

Still, it’s catchy, juvenile skate-punk with lots of melodic thrashy punk riffs and super-fast drumming. Sometimes, I get a jones for this kind of sound and 5KC fills that need perfectly. It sounds great in the car at high volume. Why? It helps me rise above all the idiots who think that the lines on the road are just suggestions, and those pesky turn signals are just an inconvenience put there by auto manufacturers to complicate their lives. 5KC helps me shout fuck you at all of them. In a fun way!

And now you’re afraid to come to my town, in case I’m driving around road-raging to 5KC. And well you should be.

Get this CD. It’s tons of fun and the music’s really great.

PS: They have another CD that came after this one, called All Hammed Up! (1997), which I’d like to find at some point in my travels. That may be trickier than usual – none of my main CD sites, including Discogs, even list it. Hell, even Google didn’t help. Next time in Taranna, Mike! Unless anyone sees a copy of it before then, grab it for me please!
