Here’s one I found 30 seconds into our visit to BMV. We were walking past the racks by the cash register, we hadn’t even gotten to the CD section yet, and there it was! You see, I had owned this years ago and have no idea where it went. My lovely wife also had a copy, way back when we were dating, but that copy, too, wandered off somewhere. So, instant purchase of our third attempt to own this one!
The 5th Annual Toronto Expedition Series, Part 9 (CD)
How to describe my love, here? There’s something riveting in these songs, an intelligence and a care that most of the neckbeard hipsters who are weird for the sake of it simply don’t have.
The instrumental textures are just perfect. It has horns (therefore I love it), it’s psychedelic, it’s lo-fi like my beloved GBV, and it’s playful and incredibly thoughtful. Emotional storytelling at its best.
Totally deserves its cult status. Pure frickin’ classic.
