KMA972 Air Supply – The Collection
Yes. You read that correctly. I’m not ashamed to admit that I do own a certain amount of schlock. I can hear you asking WHY??? Well, several reasons, depending on the disc. I suppose I’ll get around to reviewing them all, at some point.
In the case of this Air Supply hits set, they remind me of my Mom. She had their cassette (the greatest hits with that white cover that looks like a painting or pencil crayon or some such). We heard that damned thing a lot. So, it’s nostalgia.
Funny thing is, play this disc all the way through and realize you know most of these songs. Lite FM radio. Doctors’ and dentists’ waiting rooms, airport departure lounges. And even if this seems incongruous with what I usually review around here, even if they were used as a gag in that stupid Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie movie (Mr. And Mrs. Smith), these guys from Australia wrote a crazy number of hit songs. They had a knack for songs that are timeless the first time you hear them, and they sang very well.
I still throw this on every once in a while, and every time it takes me back.
