Sonny Rollins – The Bridge

Spend any time at all on the Wiki page for this album, and you’ll get the story.

Listen to this album and what you get is an earful of some masterful fucking jazz. God DAMN! This is, without a doubt, some of the best stuff I’ve heard in ages. 1962, mofo!

Also, if he was on that bridge for that long every day, he was surely pissing off that bridge. Think about it.

Ha thanks! It felt right. Mentioned in another recent post that I was considering a bit of a stylistic change. This could be part of it. Maybe I could go for succinct more often, but not really at the expense of saying what I want to say. Not limiting characters or going for one-liners, something like that. Just cutting off the fat.

And this reply about brevity may have been longer than the actual review. I rock.

Anyway, this record is recommended for sure.

Hey, you know what I think? (Of course not, I haven’t told you yet.) Who says you need to make a wholesale change? Why not just throw a shorty in, a long one, whatever you’re in the mood for? Just like 1537 did with Sgt. Peppers!

I believe there was some Sonny Rollins artwork in the album cover book I bought on Sunday.
