Jane’s Addiction – Ritual De Lo Habitual

Holy fuck. This is AMAZING.

It is my considered opinion that one must not play (the equally brilliant) Nothing’s Shocking and this album back to back. The Universe might implode from sheer awesomeness.

Here is all you need to know:

Stop!
No One’s Leaving
Ain’t No Right
Obvious
Been Caught Stealing
Three Days
Then She Did…
Of Course
Classic Girl

Now go forth and multiply the majesty!

I often listen to the two of them back-to-back. Old habit. Both albums are outstandingly good. Ridiculously good, in fact.

Thank you for this information! You’re made of braver stuff than I, sir! I was certain my theory of Universe implosion would bear out… Wow.

OK, so then here’s the next thing: we’re going to need exact dates on which you’ve done this back-to-back listening. My new theory is that there will have been large natural events (hopefully not disasters) somewhere on the globe on those exact dates and times. 😉

Oh yes. Ridiculously good – well said!

I think that’s the “rare” one? Either way it’s the “uncensored” one. The band released two covers of their own design, which was pretty original.

Meanwhile I was geeking out to my M.E.A.T Magazines…who had a really interesting review with Navarro at the time promoting this album. It was clear the band was ending. Navarro said in the interview many times that he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life in JA, and he refused to answer ANY questions about Perry. He went as far to tell the interviewer, “When you’re talking to me, you’re talking to me. When you’re talking to Perry, you’re talking to Perry, and so on. I won’t answer any questions about him.” It seemed bitchy and then the band split a few months later.
