With the ending of the Film [Soundtrack] Festival, I have a few discs here to get through before contemplating another series… First up is Montreal’s Priestess. I found this disc at work for cheap…
Think bluesy cranked-amp rock… that’s a lot of potential influences, and they’re all heard here. But they have their own sound too. I Am The Night, Colour Me Black and Lay Down slay, and set the tone for the rest!
It’s brawling barroom retro rock, humming Marshall stacks and just enough melodic sensibility to make it catchy as hell, too. No two ways about it, this record shakes foundations and rocks the fuck out.
Hell yeah! \m/ \m/
2 metal horns up, a numeric review I can appreciate!

These dudes opened for Motörhead in Tbay! Some of my buddies really dug Priestess!

I can totally see them fitting at a Motörhead gig… great call!

I am actually listening to Lay Down on the radio as I type this. Such a good song. It will forever be on the CANCON list.

That’s great timing! I’m glad it’ll always get airplay, great tune from a record that’s solid top to bottom.

I loved Priestess. They have been on hiatus for 7 years though (time to call it a day I think.)
The lead singer is in a new band called Beat Cops. Think Sloan (mostly) with a little Priestess mixed in.
