#39: Phil Collins – One More Night
Originally from 1985’s monster No Jacket Required album, iTunes actually played me the copy on my 1998 Hits complation.
Fun fact: I own this album on CD, LP and CS, as well as again in the CD boxed set of all his albums.
Anyway, this is another one of those songs for which you don’t need me to say anything. Click below and slow jam yourself into Collins bliss.
I started accidentally playing this at music practice once – I got the right sound and the right chord simultaneously. Someone else noticed too!

That is a happy accident! Did you jam the whole song? If not, you should have! Last time that “hey, that’s — song” happened to me was when I accidentally found Wonderwall, capoed on the second fret. Somewhere in the world, a gate of Hell opened up… 😉

I was a bit embarrassed at the time, actually!

I like when people reference that album when discussing the weather forecast for the day!

Classic! Even better, as a segue in the conversation, they next say “…but seriously…”

I like Phil. You have more copies than I.

I love Phil, man, SO many great songs, and the deep cuts are just as good. It’s almost unfair, how talented the man has always been… I wasn’t even aware of how many copies I had here until I started looking around… I might have a problem haha…

You are right on the deep cuts, they are usually as good or better sometimes then the hits. And you can never have enough.

I just count us all lucky that he did the work he did, with Genesis and beyond. A lifetime of awesome. He does get a bit maudlin for me, sometimes, but even those tracks hit just right under the right state of mind…
