Dwight Yoakam is pretty damn cool, and this 1997 covers record is another proof. He covers Roy Orbison, the Clash, the Kinks, Danny O’Keefe, Sonny & Cher (a duet with Sheryl Crow), the Marvelettes, Jimmy Webb, Them, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Johnny Horton and, as a hidden track, Jimmie Rodgers. It’s a broad swath of musical influences.

Last studio album was listed as 2016. Not outside the realm of possibility that another will come, maybe pandemic slowed things.
