What Have You Done For Me Lately

The box of Brother Craig goodies reveals (not like the Superbowl) a 2CD set of Janet Jackson’s hits called Number Ones (2009). There’s a ton of information about th HERE.

For me, Janet Jackson was a couple of cassettes from Columbia House, back in the day. I know that I had Control, and Rhythm Nation 1814, at least. That stuff dates itself with its sound, but it’s also sort of timeless. Classic, by now. Just like me! Right!

It’s pop music for pop music’s sake (hello, Jackson family modus operandi), informed by many things and usually with a solid message in there, somewhere. A 2CD set is a lot of Janet Jackson to hear, so I had to break it up over several listening sessions, but I got through it. It’s amazing, in retrospect, how many songs she had that we all know so well. A cool collection.
